Our Story
Vision
We help Canadian founders, and their supporters, build world changing corporations that are structured for long-term success.
Mission
To develop compelling and practical educational content that provides founders with the knowledge and skills to significantly increase their chances of success. By also providing guidance to investors, advisors, and directors we help build mutually beneficial relationships between founders and their key stakeholders.
After receiving his B. Math (Computer Science) degree from the University of Waterloo, Michael Robinson began his career working in technical roles at an early-stage start-up. He transitioned to a career as a finance academic after receiving his MBA and Ph.D. degrees from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario. Currently a Professor Emeritus in the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, he has been studying entrepreneurial finance and governance issues for over 30 years.
Dr. Robinson is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder and a certified corporate director (ICD.D). Beyond his academic qualifications, he has practical experience dealing with private equity governance issues through angel investing, working as a venture capitalist, and serving on private equity boards. He has educated many members of the Canadian entrepreneurial ecosystem both by serving as the first Site Lead for the Creative Destruction Lab Rockies program, and as the Academic Director of governance programs offered by the Institute of Corporate Directors and the Canadian Venture Capital Association. He has created the website found-ed.ca to serve as a resource for founders and their supporters.
